Tao Wessuwan has dual functions of security and wealth fetching. Typically Tao Wessuwan is considered to be a very high level dharma protector, one who has seen the face of Shakyamuni Buddha himself and have promise before lord buddha to assist all beings. These Celestial Realms, are divided into 6 levels, beginning from the “Jadtumahaaraachiga” level. After this, comes the Dawadeungs Heaven, then the Realm of Yama, Dusit Heaven, and the Nimaanaradii, and lastly the Paranimidtawasawadii level of Heaven.

The legend of Taw Waes Suwann is not only present in the Vedas of the Hindu Brahmin Tradition, rather it is also to be discovered in the Buddhist Pantheon of divine beings and legends too.

Lord Wessuwan lives in the Jadtumahaarachigaa realm– Jadtu suggests four in Pali– the four quarters of this world are ruled by Asura Lords, of which Taw Waes Suwann is Lord of the North– Mahaa Raachigaa means a King of the Angelic/Deva status level– so the word Jadtumahaaraachigaa suggests; “Realm of the Four Celestial Kings”.

Tao Waessuwan is among the Deities conjured up in the Suad Pan Yaks Ceremony which is well-known in Thailand for removal of bad karmic impact and cleansing black magic out of one’s mind. It is a mysterious and a powerful event for many people.
