Phra Nang Phaya is part of the Grand Benjapakee set and is renowned as the “Queen of amulets.” The triangle amulet depicts a Buddha in the subduing Mara pose (left hand rests on the lap with the palm facing up, and the right hand bends over the knees with the palm facing the ground), which represents enlightenment and calmness.

Phra Nang Phaya was established in Phitsanulok province during the Ayutthaya period. The amulet was produced by Queen Wisutkasat, the wife of King Mahathammarachathirat, in B.E. 2106 (A.D. 1563), when a battle broke out. The inaugural batch of Phra Nang Phaya was produced at a time of conflict; as a result, its quality and appearance were inferior. However, the Phra Nang Phaya amulet is regarded as one of the holiest amulets in Thai history. At that time, amulets were mostly distributed to soldiers for protection.
